Chicago Bridges - An Artist's Inspiration - An Update

Michigan Avenue Bridge, 12"x36", Watercolor. The first of a new watercolor series by Andrew Banks (© 2014 Andrew Banks)

The Michigan Avenue Bridge is the first painting in my “Chicago Loop Bridges” series. This 18 painting series will consist of full length elevations for each of the 18 bascule bridges in the Loop.

Each painting is hand drafted in pencil and painted with watercolor.

Archival prints of the Michigan Avenue Bridge painting are available on my online shop. To commission your own original Chicago Loop Bridge painting or any other original art, please email me.

I want to extend a huge thank you to Jim for allowing me to share my work here on ChicagoLoopBridges.com and for sharing an interest in the Chicago’s Loop area with me.

About Andrew:

Andrew is a Chicago based artist, illustrator, urban sketcher and photographer.

After earning his Masters of Architecture in 2011, Andrew married his wife Becca and moved to Chicago. With a background in architecture, Andrew has a deep appreciation for city life and thriving urban centers. Andrew has a passion and an eye for all things creative. Sketching, designing, photography, painting, you name it. Wherever he travels, he always carries a sketchbook and a camera, documenting what he sees and experiences, from his perspective.

Andrew enjoys illustrating with watercolor, ink and graphite and his work ranges from precise, technical drawings and paintings to loose and sketchy illustrations. Andrew also creates custom home illustrations, custom wedding invitations and stationary and commissioned original artwork.

In his free time Andrew enjoys biking, exploring new neighborhoods and restaurants, cooking, traveling and has a hard time passing up a good rock show.
